Imagine the following performance standard (as articulated here by Will Richardson) included in Wisconsin Information and Technology Literacy Standards (ITLS). Students will create, grow and navigate online personal learning networks in safe, effective and ethical ways.

  • Locate, identify and evaluate potential mentors or teachers online
  • Communicate with co-learners clearly and effectively in a variety of modes
  • Share work online using a variety of media in appropriate and creative ways
  • Track, read, evaluate, organize, utilize and share relevant information effectively

This session will showcase examples of what “networked learning” looks like in schools, discuss circumstances that prevent this learning from happening in others, and provide practical suggestions and models for educators that want to bring networked learning to their staff and students.
